Justin McCantsJustin McCants is the Division Chief of the Misdemeanor Division for the Dallas County District Attorney’s office. The Misdemeanor Division consists of thirty-five prosecutors, one investigator, sixteen support staff and two deputy chiefs. As part of his position, Mr. McCants is tasked with training all incoming prosecutors, training law enforcement on various issues and facilitating the intern program.

A native of Texas and the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, Justin received his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University and juris doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University. Upon being licensed in 2004, Justin began practicing oil and gas law for a Fort Worth based oil and gas company.

Mr. McCants began his career as a prosecutor with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office in 2005. He was promoted to serve as a chief felony prosecutor in 2010 and has since served as a deputy chief in the Misdemeanor Division and a member of the Cold Case Unit. Justin has tried over one hundred cases including high-level child abuse cases and child murders. He has been lead counsel on multiple murder and capital murder cases which have received national media attention.
